• How Do I order a Murphy Bed
  • First, choose the size frame you need, foundations are available or you can use plywood as the mattress support.
    Second, choose a mattress (you can use your own standard size mattress),
    Third, choose a main cabinet  (see dimensions listed below for closet opening or building your own cabinets.)

• Do I need a Cabinet
  • NO!  You can place your Murphy Bed in an existing closet or you can design a custom opening.
    The Do-It Yourself customer may want to build their own cabinet, the minimum dimensions are provided below for your convenience.  Murphy Bed Frame Page.
• Can I use any mattress?
  • Yes! This is one of the cost saving advantages of our Murphy Bed Frame.  As long as you have a standard size, 8 inch thick mattress, it will fit with the corresponding size frame of your choice. 18" Deep cabinets are available for thicker mattresses.
• What is the Best Priced Unit You Offer
  • Our Murphy Bed Mechanisms are Budget priced, we want everyone to be able to
    afford a quality Murphy Bed.

  • Our Flat Panel Cabinetry Line, The New York Series, is Budget Minded!
    Made of the finest furniture quality, commercial grade ¾" melamine.
• What are your cabinets made of?
  • We have three different materials that we use.  The flat panel series is available in Melamine, (see Color Chart) solid and wood grains
    as well as Unfinished Wood Veneers.  Melamine is a second generation "Formica" or plastic coating product.  It is made of wood composite
    board that is then heat processed with a color coating.  We use the finest 3/4" furniture quality board.  Unfinished wood veneers are available in
    Oak, Birch or Maple.  Veneers are thin slices of wood which are applied to composition board, we use 7-ply wood veneer, 3/4".  Our thermafoil
    raised panel series is a heat applied, vinyl coating over MDF board.  Our wood raised panel doors are made of solid wood and are available in Oak, Birch and Maple.
• Who stains or paints the Veneer
  • We offer these unfinished so that you can Do-It-Yourself.  Stain, Paint, Stencil, etc.  Let your imagination run wild.
  • We also offer clear coated, natural wood grain veneers as well as several pre-stained colors.
• How Does a Murphy Bed Work?
  • SIMPLE!  This is a counter-balanced spring mechanism, bolted to your floor for safety. 
  • You simply pull the bed down and lift it  back up. It is so light, you won't believe it.
• Can a Murphy Bed be mounted to any type of floor?
  • Yes, specific bolts are included in your hardware package for each type of floor.
• Does the Murphy Bed have to be mounted to the floor?
  • No, although it is recommended to mount to the floor, we do have a false floor that we can supply you with for a fee depending on the size needed.  This can only be used with a cabinet.  It is a 3/4 piece of 7 ply plywood that is cut to the inside dimension of the cabinet or your opening requirements for a closet.  It is predrilled so that the Murphy Bed base bracket fits securely to it: then that piece is L bracketed to the bottom plate on the wall or baseboard and the side panels of the cabinet.
• Is A Murphy Bed Safe?
  • Our Murphy Bed Frame bolts to the floor, or a sub floor designed for the cabinet, NOT to the cabinet or to the wall.  This is the safest means of installation and we believe it is the safest wall bed frame on the market today.  However, this is not a toy and care should be taken. 
• How Soon Can I get My Murphy Bed Delivered?
  • For Murphy Bed Frames, our average turn time from order to shipment arrival is usually 10 to 14 business days from the date payment is received.
    Cabinetry is custom made to order and usually takes four to six weeks to produce, however no shipments are guaranteed for under twelve weeks, due to unforeseen problems.
• What Tools are needed to put my Murphy Bed together? Cabinet?
  • Murphy Bed Tools needed are:  Drill motor with a 5/16 masonry bit for concrete floors or a 5/16 ratchet wrench for mounting into wood floors.  A flat screwdriver and a pair of pliers.
  • Cabinet Tools needed are: Flat screwdriver and a Philips head screwdriver, a power drill is helpful.
  • Can a Murphy Bed be mounted to any type of floor?
    • Yes, specific bolts are included in your hardware package for specific floors.
  • Does a Murphy Bed have to be mounted to the floor?
    • No.  A perimeter base can be ordered to fit the size of your bed.  This is a custom cut piece of plywood that is to be L-Bracketed to the sides of the cabinet and the Murphy Bed attached to it, as a false floor. This is only available with a cabinet order.         
• SHIPPING & NOTICES
   How are Murphy Beds and Cabinets shipped?
  •    Your Murphy Bed frame will come in two boxes with all of the hardware included.  If you choose a foundation with your bed it will be shipped in a separate box , a foundation is a 2" thick (mini-box spring) which goes under the mattress.  All cabinetry is shipped flat and packaged on a pallet with extra protection. There is a $75.00 crating fee on all cabinet shipments, $99.00 fee for all Library Beds.
    
    All products are shipped by common carrier, FOB, St. Augustine, Florida.  Freight charges apply to all orders, Freight will be Prepaid.     Be sure to check the product at delivery for any obvious damage and make notes on the carriers paperwork.   All freight claims must be made to the carrier.  Murphy Bed Products is not responsible for freight damage.  
  • Shipping Levels:  There are four levels of shipping available, please be sure and specify at the time of order which level you prefer. 
    Shipping costs vary accordingly.
    1.  TERMINAL:  From our factory to a local terminal in your area for you to pick up.
    2.  RESIDENTIAL BASIC: From our factory to outside your home. (You must off load from truck and carry in your home.)
    3.  RESIDENTIAL OFF LOAD: From our factory to your home and off truck. (You still must carry in the house.)
    4.  RESIDENTIAL PREMIUM: From our factory to your home, off the truck and taken inside a ground level door or garage.
         (No stairs or elevators.)
• POLICIES  
  • Payment Policy:  Your Murphy Bed system is made to order. Payment in full is required with your order.  We accept all major credit cards and checks. 
  • Cancellation Policy: Any cancellation of the order within 7 business days will result in a 4% cancellation fee.  Any cancellation of the order after seven business days will result in a 25% service, raw material and restocking fee.
  • Return Policy:  Please remember that your order has been made specifically for you according to your specifications.  Any returns must be approved by Murphy Bed Products.  In the event that any merchandise is to be returned the following will apply:
    • 1.  The merchandise must be returned in the same condition it was received.
    • 2.  The customer will be responsible for the freight charge to return goods to the factory.
    • If your order arrives damaged you may choose to return it or accept it with the damage noted on the bill of lading and any replacement parts will be sent immediately.
    • 3.  A credit will be given only after the merchandise has arrived back at the
       factory and has been inspected.
    • 4.  Any credit given will be less 25% restocking fee plus all shipping costs.
    • 5.  No returns after 14 business days.
