Product History
Murphy Beds were first patented in 1900 by William L. Murphy. Mr. Murphy lived in a boarding house at the time and wanted to entertain friends in his room, so out of necessity Mr. Murphy found a way to "hide" the bed. Needless to say his idea caught on and became quite popular.

Today, Murphy Beds are more in demand than ever. With the lifestyle changes brought about by the home computer, people now want to make rooms into dual purpose, home office and guest quarters.

In 1978, Donald Schultz began a working relationship with William Murphy II, the son of the inventor. Mr. Schultz distributed beds throughout the world and created a line of space saving cabinetry to accompany the Murphy Bed. For the first time, people were able to see the possibilities of using a Murphy Bed in their home with complimentary furniture. Mr. Schultz went on to create a National Franchise of Murphy Bed Retailers which is still in business today. In 1996, Mr. Schultz sold his interest in the franchise system and began manufacturing his own line of high quality furniture and Murphy Bed Frames.

Today his company, Murphy Bed Products sells direct to the public through the World Wide Web, as well as at it's factory showroom in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Murphy Bed Products, offers a complete line of cabinetry in an unlimited amount of combinations and styles. Our products have been featured in international print media and television productions. The Panel Bed is made in Canada and has been produced there for 29 years.

We highly recommend that you ask before you buy anywhere else, is any part of your product made in China? We have examined these beds and components ourselves and find many quality, engineering and especially safety issues with several of our competitors products. Many of them do not even carry insurance. Many of them have come and gone in this business. We are celebrating 29 Years!
